Being human resources generalists requires certain skills and qualifications. While Masters degree is not needed like Bachelor one, it is preferred to have one. Another preferred certification is professional in human resources (PHR). One should have previous experience in human resources position or at a very similar position, which can be gained as recruitment coach/specialist. Human resources generalists must be well organized, methodical and detail-oriented. They should provide excellent communication skills, great ability for analyzing and presenting information. Knowledge of various laws such as employment law or equal opportunity rights, employee relations, safety, training and preventive labor relations are also required. Being able to fully operate Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and be severely familiar with some of the software that is important for industry.
Most of larger organizations like, banks, insurance companies, hospital, universities, institutes of technology, factories and many more have human resource generalist and mangers, as well as, in some cases, even more specialized human resource staff. All of them work typical official hours with occasional extra hours.
